This study aims to examine in depth the concept of idghom from two perspectives of Arabic language science, namely the science of tajwid and the science of shorof. Although both use the term "idghom" which means the fusion of letters, both have different theoretical foundations, practical functions, and applications. Idghom tajwidi is part of the rules of reading the Qur'an which aims for the beauty and fluency of tilawah, while idghom shorfi functions in word structure to simplify pronunciation and maintain morphological balance. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach with terminological and practical analysis, accompanied by comparative tables and application examples from the Qur'an and Arabic texts. The findings show that differences in understanding of the two types of idghom can affect the accuracy of reading and understanding Arabic. Therefore, comprehensive mastery of idghom tajwidi and shorfi is a primary need for students of the Qur'an and Arabic. This study also reveals the phonetic correlation between the two, although rooted in two different sciences.
