PERBANDINGAN KOMPETENSI NAHWU ANTARA LULUSAN PESANTREN MODERN DAN PESANTREN SALAFI (STUDI KASUS DI WILAYAH SERANG, BANTEN)

Abstract

This study aims to compare the Nahwu competence between graduates of modern Islamic boarding schools and Salafi Islamic boarding schools in the Serang area, Banten. The Nahwu competence in question includes two main aspects, namely theoretical ability in understanding and explaining Arabic grammatical rules, and practical ability in applying these rules in reading and understanding texts. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with four informants who were alumni of both types of Islamic boarding schools. The results of the study show that modern Islamic boarding schools tend to have a systematic curriculum structure, using books such as Nahwu Wadhih, Amil, and Alfiyah Ibnu Malik, and prioritizing teaching methods that test understanding and memorization. This produces graduates with good theoretical understanding. Meanwhile, Salafi Islamic boarding schools use classical books such as Amil, Zurmiyah, and Jurumiyah with traditional methods such as sorogan and bandongan, which produce students who are accustomed to reading and interpreting texts directly, but are less strong in theoretical aspects.
