This study examines the interpretation of Quranic verses relating to the relationship between humans and the universe, focusing on the concept of humans as God's vicegerent (khalifah) on earth and their responsibility towards the environment. Using a thematic interpretation approach, the analysis was conducted on verses such as Surah Al-Baqarah (2:30), Surah Al-A'raf (7:56), and Surah Al-Hadid (57:25), which emphasize ecosystem balance, the wise use of natural resources, and the role of humans in maintaining the harmony of the universe. The findings indicate that these verses teach the principles of sustainability, environmental ethics, and the human obligation to avoid damage (fasad) for the welfare of future generations. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of integrating Quranic values into sustainable development, as an ethical guide for modern humans in facing the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation. This research contributes to the study of contemporary interpretation relevant to current global issues.
