Abstract

This study aims to show that the teaching materials developed on acid-base materials are in accordance with the criteria set by the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP) and to show that student learning outcomes using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) based module teaching materials are higher than the results. student learning by not using Problem Based Learning (PBL)-based module teaching materials. The population in this study were all students of SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. Samples were taken by purposive sampling of 2 classes. The experimental class was treated using a problem based learning (PBL) chemistry learning module and the control class did not use problem based learning (PBL) teaching materials. The instrument is a test instrument in the form of a multiple choice test of 20 questions. Data were analyzed using the right side t test with a significant level of 0.05 and the N-Gain test to determine the increase in student learning outcomes. The results of the t-test on the right side obtained t_(count>t_table ) (27.5 > 1.69) which showed H_0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, namely learning using Problem Based Learning (PBL) based modules was higher than learning without using teaching materials based Problem Based Learning (PBL).
