Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji peran Muhammadiyah dalam transformasi pendidikan Islam di Indonesia melalui studi literatur dengan pendekatan historis analitis. Berangkat dari asumsi bahwa Muhammadiyah tidak hanya menyediakan institusi pendidikan, tetapi juga membentuk paradigma pendidikan Islam modern, penelitian ini menganalisis gagasan, strategi, dan dampak pembaruannya dalam konteks sosial keislaman Indonesia. Data bersumber dari literatur primer dan sekunder berupa artikel jurnal, buku akademik, serta dokumen kebijakan, dengan penekanan pada publikasi kontemporer tanpa mengabaikan karya klasik berpengaruh. Analisis dilakukan melalui pembacaan kritis dan sintesis tematik untuk mengidentifikasi pola pemikiran, dinamika historis, dan implikasi konseptualnya. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Muhammadiyah berperan strategis dalam mentransformasikan pendidikan Islam melalui integrasi ilmu agama dan ilmu umum, penerapan manajemen pendidikan modern, serta penguatan nilai tajdid dan Islam berkemajuan. Transformasi ini tidak hanya mengubah model kelembagaan pendidikan Islam, tetapi juga membentuk orientasi keilmuan dan etos sosial umat Islam Indonesia. Kontribusi tersebut bersifat berkelanjutan dan adaptif terhadap perubahan zaman, meskipun menghadapi tantangan globalisasi dan digitalisasi pendidikan. Penelitian ini memperkaya kajian pendidikan Islam serta menawarkan kerangka reflektif untuk menelaah peran organisasi Islam dalam membangun sistem pendidikan yang relevan, moderat, dan berorientasi pada kemajuan.
