Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are strategic Islamic educational institutions that play a role in fostering a generation with noble morals through the study of yellow books (ngaji) in the modern era. This study examines the application of a behaviorist approach in strengthening the behavior of ngaji worship among students at the Luhur Sabilussalam Ciputat Islamic Boarding School, focusing on the teaching methods used to shape positive behavioral changes. Behaviorist theory views learning as a stimulus-response interaction influenced by the environment, where reinforcement is used to strengthen consistency in ngaji. Through an analysis of methods such as lectures, questions and answers, discussions, assignments, and habituation, this study found that this approach is effective in shaping the morals and religious understanding of students. Compared to previous research that was more specific to the nahwu sharaf book, this study offers broad insights into the application of behaviorism in student Islamic boarding schools. The results demonstrate the importance of positive reinforcement in producing students who are ready to face modern challenges, with implications for the development of Islamic boarding school curriculum.
