PERAN SUPERVISI KLINIS KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN KINERJA MENGAJAR GURU DI SMK SWASTA HKBP SIDIKALANG

This study aims to examine the role of the principal’s clinical supervision in improving teachers’ teaching performance at HKBP Private Vocational School Sidikalang. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through interviews and documentation with the principal, vice principal for curriculum, and teachers. Data were analyzed using data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, theory triangulation, and member checking. The findings show that clinical supervision plays a significant role in enhancing teachers’ performance through five main aspects: (1) diagnosing and assessing teacher performance each semester based on lesson plans and teaching preparation, (2) planning supervision collaboratively with vice principals to design assessment formats, (3) motivating teachers through a reward and punishment system, (4) recognizing achievements with verbal praise, appreciation, training opportunities, or promotion, and (5) reporting progress by evaluating lesson materials, classroom management, and teaching facilities. These supervision results form the basis for improvement, training, and recognition decisions. The study concludes that the principal’s clinical supervision has been effectively implemented and provides a positive contribution to the improvement of teaching performance at the school.
