Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of school-based management in improving the quality of education at SMP Negeri 1 Pagaran. The research employs a descriptive approach using qualitative methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the principles of school-based management participation, autonomy, transparency, efficiency, and accountability have been applied across six areas of school management. The implementation of school-based management has been shown to contribute to improving education quality, as reflected in the achievement of national education standards. In curriculum management, teachers and the curriculum team are involved, although participatory and transparent practices still need enhancement. In financial management, funds are managed accountably and efficiently. Student affairs management has involved teachers and students, yet parental involvement remains low and student welfare is not fully addressed in evaluation. Facilities and infrastructure management have been planned and implemented adequately. The management of teaching and educational staff includes evaluation and training practices, although systematic development is still lacking.
