KEMAMPUAN BERFIKIR KRITIS DALAM KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN PESERTA DIDIK KELAS VI SD

The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability to understand and think critically in Grade VI of Primary School students. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study strategy to examine the phenomenon in detail. Data collection involved conducting student observations in various ways: structured comprehension tests to measure students' literal skills, participant observations to observe students' critical thinking processes during class and learning activities, and deeper with students to understand perceptions and experiences related to reading skills and critical thinking. The results showed that students in Grade VI were still relatively low in critical thinking. This was indicated by several indicators, including the importance of the questions presented, the ability to analyze limited information, and students' difficulties in understanding the lack of skills in assessing information regarding answers to complex questions. Low ability to think critically also depends on students' inability to use critical thinking skills, such as solving problems, assessing them, and creating solutions presented in the problem. These findings indicate the need for improved learning strategies that are more effective. This study recommends the development of critical thinking learning methods using the HOTS method.
